I basketball team that not many people knew about, but now people all over the country know about them.   The team has shown great skill, feeling, and drive on the field this 2025 season,

Making it their best yet.   People who like sports, go to school, and study sports are all interested in what’s happening in Phoenix, Arizona.

GCU Basketball had the best court this season.  More on how their stars stepped up and why this could be the start of something much bigger below.

A Show on the Rise

For years, GCU basketball has been getting better.   When the school joined the NCAA Division I in 2013, a lot of people didn’t know what to expect.

Arizona boasts many of the top universities in the nation. Could a private Christian college even compare?   Twenty-five years have passed, and the clear answer is “yes.”

As of 2020, when Head Coach Bryce Drew took over, GCU was one of the top teams in the NCAA.   Coach Drew led the team, taught them rules, and made them want to win. He used to play in the NBA and was a great college coach.

That dream came true in every way this season.

 Strong Start, Even Stronger End

From the beginning of the 2025 season, GCU made it clear that they were not going to mess around.   They had a run of easy wins at the beginning of the season,

Including some great games against top teams.   They played a lot of tough games outside of conferences, but the team always came through.

Not only was GCU in first place in the WAC by the middle of the season, but teams from all over the country were also taking notice.

Their home court, the lively GCU Arena, turned into a haven.   It’s not too much of a stretch to say that not many teams won on that floor.

Fans, especially the Havocs, a well-known group of students, made it one of the toughest places to play in the country.  There was a lot of buzzing, rage, and noise.

What Working Together Can Do for You

Not only did the 2025 GCU basketball team win in a unique way, but they also won.   The group worked together and knew what they wanted to do.

No one tried to be better than the others because everyone knew what their job was.   Instead, they worked together. Ray Harrison was the team’s emotional leader and senior guard.

He always played with a steady hand and got big results when they counted most.   Fans liked him and trusted him as a player because he was cool and could shoot well.

Next was Tyon Grant-Foster, who was talked about all season for how fast and good he was at scoring.   Grant-Foster always delivered, whether it was a quick dunk off the break or a key defensive stop.

A great forward called JaKobe Coles also made every game exciting by running hard and being strong on the boards.

Coles was the Most Outstanding Player for the WAC tournament.  He earned the award because he always gave it his all on the court.

The team wasn’t just based on stars, though.  The bench players were really crucial, and the role guys made big shots. Everyone agreed with Coach Drew’s way.

They were hard to beat because they were balanced and worked together.

The Havocs: A Sixth Man Like No Other

If you’ve never been to a GCU home game, you have no idea how crazy it is.   People all over the country know the Havocs, GCU’s student fan group, for being loud, enthusiastic, and very creative.   They go the extra mile.

It’s a plan for the Havocs to wear purple, wave flags, and sing to get the Lopes excited every time they play at home.   This year, GCU really did have one of the best home records in the country.

Their joy has also helped people all over the country learn more about GCU.   A lot of people watch videos of the Havocs and say they want to play at GCU Arena because it looks like a lot of fun.

 Who Won the WAC Tournament

An exciting part of the 2025 season was GCU’s win in the WAC title.   Every game was tough when the stakes were high, but GCU stepped up.

Utah Valley prevailed, and GCU performed with dignity and spirit. A lot of points were scored and the game went fast. But in the second half, the Lopes pulled away and won 89–82.

They won their conference and made it to the NCAA playoffs for the third year in a row with this victory.

The Way to Get to the NCAA Tournament

Every college basketball team wants to get to March Madness, and GCU made the most of their chance. Even though they didn’t make it to the finals,

They played well and fans and teams from all over the country respected them.   Their fast, selfless style of play, along with their drive and enthusiasm, made them an exciting team to watch.

GCU became an even bigger name in college basketball after the event, even though they didn’t win the title.   We’re excited about next year because the core of the team is still together.

Getting into the West Coast Conference (WCC)

The fact that GCU will be moving to the West Coast Conference in the 2025–26 season may be the best news for the team going forward.

This makes the school much more competitive and well-known, and it shows how far it has come. Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, and other basketball powerhouses are in the WCC.

This means that GCU will now have regular chances to play some of the best teams in the country.   But from what we saw in 2025, they’re more than ready for the test.

They have Coach Drew in charge, a strong fan group, and a new conference coming up.   It’s not just about one great season in their story. It is about creating something with longevity
